Registration
What is included in my registration?
Each participant receives the following with their registration:
- Commemorative Race T-Shirt: A cotton 2023 Trot Against Poverty Race Shirt for the first 1,400 registered.
- Sweet Potato Pancake Breakfast: After you cross the finish line, celebrate with our traditional sweet potato pancake breakfast including all the fixing.
Who receives a t-shirt?
The first 1,400 registered trotters will receive a commemorative race t-shirt.
I registered but can no longer participate, can I receive a refund?
Unfortunately, we are unable to issue refunds or transfer registrations.
How can I receive a discount on my registration?
Sign up as a team to recieve a discount. The first three trotters who register will have a registration fee of $35. After four trotters register for the team, the pricing will drop to $30 per registrant.
Teams
Can anybody register as a team?
Yes! There is no special criteria needed to become a team. Your team could be the name of the company the teammates work for, a family name or a totally unique name you create!
Race Information
Is the course a certified 5k route?
Yes, the route has been certified by USA Track & Field. The course has been officially measured at 3.1 miles using the shortest distance traveled.
Is the race timed?
Yes, the race is professionally timed by Running Zone Race Management.
Tell me about the course!
Riverside Park is known for its scenic pathways and beautiful views. The route starts on a path on the West Side of the park and winds around both park pathways and closed public streets before finishing back on the West Side of the park near the Grand Pavilion. Throughout the course, enjoy the picturesque views of the Indian River and pass by the Vero Beach Museum of Art, Riverside Theatre and Riverside Children’s Theatre, passing under the Merril P. When and where is packet pick up?
Early packet pick-up is available on Tuesday, November 23rd and Wednesday, November 24th from 10 am until 5 pm at the UP Center located at 1400 27th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960. To make things easier, you may also sign for and pick up packets on behalf of your friends or teammates. If you’d rather pick up your packet on race day, please plan to arrive before 7:00 am.
Are walkers welcome?
Of course! We are excited to have athletes of all skill levels participate. For everyone’s safety, we ask that you please plan to start at the back of the group and leave room for others to pass.
Are strollers and wheelchairs allowed?
Yes, strollers and wheelchairs are welcome. For everyone’s safety, we ask that you please plan to start near the back of the group and leave room for others to pass.
Will you have a bag check?
No, there will not be an official bag check available. Please only bring the essentials and leave all valuables at home.
What about bad weather?
Florida weather can be unpredictable, but the race will take place rain or shine.

What is the purpose of this race?
The goal of the Trot Against Poverty 5k is to raise funds and awareness for United Against Poverty, whose mission is to inspire and empower people living in poverty to lift themselves and their families to economic self-sufficiency.
How does this event raise money?
Net funds from registrations, participant fundraising and sponsorships will all benefit the mission of United Against Poverty. Here’s your chance to join friends and neighbors in making a meaningful impact in our community while taking part in an unforgettable 5k!

For what categories are you presenting awards?
Top participants will recognized in the following special categories:
- Top overall male finisher
- Top overall female finisher
- Top master male finisher
- Top master female finisher
- Top overall stroller division finisher
The top three male and female finishers in the following age groups will also be recognized:
- Youth 9 years old and under
- Youth 10 – 14 years old
- 15–19 years old
- 20–24 years old
- 25–29 years old
- 30–34 years old
- 35–39 years old
- 40–44 years old
- 45–49 years old
- 50–54 years old
- 55–59 years old
- 60–64 years old
- 65–69 years old

All participants in stroller division will be excluded from age group awards. All children six and under participating in the free kids race will receive a medal.
Who receives an award?
Medals will be mailed to the address provided during registration after the conclusion of the event.
